The online film screening "Under the Sky of the Tokurin-ji Temple" will be held as a part of the grant project "Visual Ethnography of International Students’ Migration to Japan-Deepening a Mutual Understanding and Cultivating Empathy Towards a Creation of an Inclusive Society" (D20-N-0017, represented by Dipesh Kharel).
This film tells the story of Tokurinji, a Buddhist temple in Nagoya, focusing on Rev.Takaoka’s activities in supporting immigrants under difficult situations before and after COVID-19. Based on long-term participatory visual ethnographic fieldwork, the film depicts how Rev. Takaoka is creating the Temple as a platform to bring immigrants and Japanese citizens together and contribute to a more diverse and inclusive society.
