Photos exhibitions will be held in Bangkok, Yangon and Phnom Penh (International Grant Program)

As part of the project supported by Toyota Foundation, entitled “Beyond ‘Tolerance”-Working hand in hand to promote social inclusion of migrants ant their family” (Representative: Reiko Harima, D15-N-0069), Mekong Migration Network will organise photos exhibitions in Bangkok, Yangon and Phnom Penh on the following dates.

·Bangkok, 8-16 October, SEA Junction, Room 408 (4th fl), Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC)

The project was implemented in collaboration with civil society organisations supporting migrants in Thailand, Japan, Cambodia and Myanmar. The project partners visited respective countries and interviewed migrants, returnees and support groups to explore what can be done to promote social inclusion of migrants. Photos displayed at the exhibitions were taken by the Thailand-based documentary photographer, John Hulme, who has collaborated with MMN on the project and visited the various countries along with project partners. A multimedia presentation entitled Beyond “Tolerance”: Living Together with Migrants, produced as part of the project, will also be launched at the opening events of the respective photo exhibitions. At the opening event in Bangkok, there will be a cultural performance by migrant workers from Myanmar, as well as public discussion on migration with a panel of migrant workers and their support groups. Opening events in Yangon and Phnom Penh will have a public discussion involving representatives of respective ministries, migrant returnees and their support groups.
